Sadhana

There are three main pillars to the Sadhana development process through community work:

1.    The Project:
This is where you really make your mark on Sangh. The first SSV, Khel Competition, Virat Hindu Sammelan, they all started off as projects. Someone thought: “You know what would really boost Shakhas and Sangh work in the UK? If we all came together, across the whole country, and played khel together for a whole day.” All great things start somewhere, Sadhana is a controlled environment for starting your own great thing.

You’ll have the opportunity to make a project your own. Yes, you’ll have a whole heap of mentors and experienced karyakartas to call on if you get stuck, but if you think the Swayamsevaks of today will respond to videos, you make videos, if you are going to University and want to create something that will benefit those going to University, you can do that. The sky is the limit.

It won’t be easy. You’ll need to talk to elder karyakartas to figure out what is needed in our organization, you’ll need to build a team of karyakartas around you to get things done, it will be down to your team to get people interested in what you’re doing, and you’ll have to manage your own time.

But, the Sadhana team will be there every step of the way to guide and help you. And when you succeed, you’ll be able to say: “I made that happen, I came up with an idea, followed it through and the end result is a real, measurable, positive effect on my community.”

You don’t have to already have an idea of what project you’d like to do when you apply for Sadhana. This idea can develop through the Sadhana process.

2.    Mentoring
You’ll be assigned a highly experienced Karyakarta to be your own personal Mentor. These Mentors have all been through the process of taking an idea and following it through to an end result and will be able to guide you through your journey. They have the added benefit of being well connected and able to connect you to the right people to get things done.

They will be your port-of-call to ask any questions about Sangh, your project, your career & your personal development. They’ll also be able to mentor you on balancing your time with work, studies, play & Sangh work.

These Mentors are already successful both in the working world and at doing their bit to advance our community. All you have to do it learn from them.

3. Abhyas Vargs
The Abhyas Vargs are where the biggest strides in your personal development will be made. They are highly intensive residential weekends, but also a lot of fun. You might find yourself cooking for 20 people on a budget of £10, digging deep into your own psyche, digging even deeper into the reasoning behind Shakhas or Sangh, climbing high across forests through Go Ape, doing the Insanity Workout, or writing your own eulogy.

Whatever you’re doing, you’ll find yourself building a daily routine that lets you get everything you need to get done and kick-ass with your productivity. You’ll push yourself to the absolute limits, both mentally & physically. If you leave an Abhyas Varg weekend and you’re not mentally & physically exhausted then we’re doing something wrong. And you’ll find motivation in yourself, no longer needing to rely on external motivators.

This is Sadhana
Just give us 4 months of your time, we’ll break you down, remold you into a better you, and at the same time you’ll be doing important work for our community & organisation.
